FOCUS: LIGHTING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAITURE: MILD TO WILD
Location:
Seattle, WA.
Venue to be announced soon
The workshop starts at 8am sharp. Please be there at least a half hour before hand to help setup, get your gear in place and settled so we can start lighting and learning.
This is a fantastic workshop. We take location shooting from simple to wild, and we cover a tremendous amount of lighting concepts, controls and setups. It is a hands-on workshop. You will be doing your own work and shooting your own shots. I do not set it up and walk away like in other workshops, nor do we spend all day doing a couple of images. We do 'proof of concept' and the images/setups are shot for your files.
What we will learn:
We use models and subjects for part of our shooting and we do a lot of demo/set up. You will be working with your own gear to create the shots. We keep the workshop small to allow more people to be involved with the actual work. No standing around in this workshop... there is plenty to do and learn.
We go until the sun is set... so it is a long day in the summer. Lunch will be something fast, and we will have water/snacks to keep you going. Please do not schedule anything for early Saturday evening... we need you there all day. After the wrap we head for dinner and chat... and that goes deep into the evening.
There are many things to learn, and I suggest you bring a pen/pencil and something to write on... clipboard for instance, or a notebook. I furnish the diagrams and papers you need, but taking notes is very important.
Camera, wide angle lens, telephoto lens, one strobe minimum, a trigger set for firing the flash off camera (CLS and Canon System are fine), one stand per light, one shoot through umbrella and a 5-in-one or 6-in-one reflector system. Additional tools are welcome (beauty dishes, extension poles, booms, and larger lights are welcome. Bring what YOU shoot with so you can learn on it. And bring t least 4 GIG of media.
Please take advantage of this workshop to learn as much as you can. I make no plans for Saturday evening, so I am available as long as anyone wants to stay.
If you are signing up, it is imperative... really imperative for you to BOOKMARK THIS PAGE. It is where the current information for the workshop will be found. As new information becomes available, this page will be updated.
All attendees receive a SmugMug Pro account for one year and the new Lighting Essentials DVD Set with lighting and Photoshop movies. A $225 value.
